-- I first built the front and back frames by connecting two of the 7' long 2 X 4's together with three of the 24" long 2 X 4's that make up the legs. I measured 3" above the end and that is where I connected the bottom long 2 X 4. Then I screwed in the second 7' long section flush with the top of the legs.
-- Once you have the front and back frames built you need to connect them with 4 24" long 2 X 4's to create one large box with no sides. One item of interest I realized early on in the this step that I had to place the floor for the bottom shelf before I connected the two front and back frames together. If you wait till after the box is made you will not be able to get the shelf inside the box as its dimentions are the size that allows it to sit on top of the bottom set of 2 X 4's.
-- At this time you should have a frame for the stand with the bottom shelf installed. Now flip the stand over on its front/back and connect some horizontal supports for the bottom shelf. Use as little as 3 and as many as 5. If you plan on putting alot of heavy items then use more. if your just gonna use light storage then use 3.
-- Now install the horizontal supports for the top of the stand. If your going to use this stand to hold a tank then you can not have to many supports. One every 12" would be plenty. If your not going to use this to hold a large tank then you can use less supports and spread them out a little. Make sure you cut them to size so that they fit nice and snug.
-- You can now install the top and sides. (DO NOT INSTALL THE BACK or FRONT YET). With the sides and the top installed you can either leave it as is or you can install a back and front section.
-- If you want to install doors like I have then I suggest the following trick to measuring out where the doors should go. First tack the front frame one with two screws. This is just temporary so that it does not move. Now flip the stand over on its face. Get a pencil and trace the around the area between the top and bottom supports and the legs. Do this on both left and right sides. Now flip the stand back on its legs and take the front face off. Use the lines you just made as a guide to cut out the doors. Save these doors and mark them so you know what side they came from.
-- Now you can finish installing the front frame and the back. A suggestion by a freidn was to drill holes in the back for ventalation if you plan on using the bottom shelf as a sump area. This way mosture wont collect inside.
-- Now comes what wa the hardest part for me. Installing the hinges for the doors. I am not going to try to describe how to do this as I am sure there has to be a better way than what I was doing.

Of course you can change the dimentions of the stand to fit your needs. Just change the measurements on the cut sheet to fit your changes.
